In nature it is grazing animals that fall prey to the great predators, and no matter how beautiful gazelle are, lionesses will stealthily hunt them in the long grasslands of the South African veldt. The moment of attack and its success is dependant upon the tensed up energy in the lion, charged like a coiled spring to burst upon the unsuspecting victim, and the how alert and fleet of foot is the targeted gazelle.
