The blue spotted stingray is often encountered on dives in the Red Sea, both on shallow reefs and depths down to 30 meters. They are usually found in small caves or under sheltered overhangs. Its bright colours warn predators how venemous it is.
The ray detects its prey using electroreception to sense the electrical fields that fishes emit.
