Grouse shoot in the Scottish highlands

101cm x 61cm
Cobra water mixable oils on textured board. There are 2 types of Grouse Shoot, “Driven Shooting” and “Walked up Shooting”. A Driven Shoot is when beaters are used to drive the birds towards the guns who are hidden in fixed locations called butts. A Walked up Shoot requires the hunters to walk forward in a line and flush the birds into flight using gun dogs.
This painting shows a Walked up shoot which I have located in a beautiful hidden valley in the Scottish Highlands.
The grouse shooting season begins on 12th August, known as the “glorious 12th”
