The subjects of this painting are two queen angelfishes and a small shoal of big eye soldierfishes. I have placed them in an abstract setting based upon the the shape, form and structure of stone corals. Soldierfishes are nocturnal and seek shadowed areas of the reef during the day. Queen angelfishes are so named because of the blue speckled patch on the top of their heads which is thought to look like a crown.
