French angelfish

70cm x 52cm

Cobra watermixable oils on textured board

The French Angelfish is one of my favourites and I have observed and filmed a number of them while diving in the Caribbean. They can grow up to 40cm and are not shy and are readily approachable with a camera. They are reef dwellers and are very territorial, vigorously defending their territory.
Juveniles set up cleaner stations where they remove parasites from other fish species. Female fishes can change sex and become males if there are no male fishes available on the reef.
