Sea otters

76cm x 61cm
Cobra water mixable oils on textured board.

Sea otters have no blubber to protect them and instead have the thickest, densest fur of all mammals. This nearly caused the sea otter’s demise and in some areas they were hunted to extinction. Their natural habitat is the giant kelp forests where they feed on purple sea urchins as a delicacy. No sea otters/ no kelp forest. The sea urchins are free to destroy the kelp which they do very effectively.
